Caring For Your Waterproof Mattress

Getting The Most Out Of Your Waterproof Mattress

So you have selected the best waterproof mattress for your needs and now you’re probably wondering how to get the most out of your purchase.

Why Clean My Waterproof Mattress?

All our incontinence mattresses and hospital mattresses are designed not only with user comfort but also longevity of product in mind. However, by following these simple tips you will keep your mattresses in a good general condition and clean and hygienic for years to come. When you consider how many hours of use your mattress will get over those years, it’s not hard to see why a quick everyday clean is well worth the time invested.

How Often Should I Clean My Waterproof Mattress?

We recommend a simple everyday clean or wipe down for any of our waterproof mattresses, regardless of the level of nighttime incontinence. All mattresses build up allergens, dust mites, sweat and other residues but the way our mattresses are designed to be simple to clean, and quick to dry, this should not be a problem for you.

How To Clean Your Waterproof Mattress

Regardless of whether you have purchased a single waterproof mattress or a double waterproof mattress from any of our three product ranges, the cleaning process is a quick and easy one!

We recommend a cupful of Dettol (or any other household disinfectant and antibacterial solution) in a bucket of hot water. Mix this well and then using a sponge, simply wipe down the mattress. A lot of our NHS customers use Milton which is used in the same way as Dettol.

If you are a domestic user and would prefer, a bucket of soapy water also works very well.

Use Hot Water

It is worth remembering that the hotter the water you use to clean your mattress the quicker the material will dry.

Please Note - Our hospital mattress range features a three sided zip along the cover. This is to meet stringent NHS health and safety requirements and designed for easy foam inspection. This mattress is still supposed to be cleaned without removing the cover.

Flip It Daily!!

We also recommend flipping your mattress over daily to keep a nice even surface and reduce any indentations that may occur over time.

Sleep Tight!!

We hope this advice has been helpful and informative and will keep your waterproof incontinence mattress fresh and in tip-top shape for many sleeps to come. Sleep tight and sweet dreams.
